UIL State Qualifiers Enjoy A Great Farwell From Students and Staff
On April 21, 2017 Dr. Javier Saenz Middle School our number sense team enjoyed a delicious breakfast before they made the trip to San Antonio to compete at the state UIL meet.
The number sense team consisted of Litzy Huerta, Jorge Tafolla, Dulce Luna, and Stacy Ortega.
In 8th grade, Jorge finished in 4th place with a score of 132. Litzy would finish in 5th place with a score of 121. The rest of the team consisted of 6th grade Dulce with a 1st place score of 112 and Stacy who finished in 2nd place with a score of 111. The team’s combined score of 476 was enough to win the Regional team trophy.
6th grade students Esthefany Rivera place 4th, Larissa Cantu placed 7th, and Gael Garcia placed 10th to round out all top 10 finishers at the Regional meet.
Dr. Saenz students and staff showed their support by cheering them on while our state qualifiers boarded the bus. Saenz Jewelettes performed and cheered for them and staff members popped confetti poppers. These students smiled with joy as they watched their peers and staff show support for them.
National Library Week
National Library Week was celebrated here at the Saenz Middle School Library. Students took part in challenges and enjoyed some activities in the library. There several stations students took part in. Stations included, book mark station, book cover station, and a puzzle station. There was also a Book Worm Candy Jar challenge where students had the opportunity to guess how many candies were in a jar. A Bookface Photo contest was also something students took part in. There were so many creative pictures taken at the library. At the end of the week there were winners for each challenge.
