Technology Applications is a dynamic course for 6th-8th graders that empowers students with essential digital skills. Students will explore topics such as digital citizenship, responsible online behavior, and effective use of Google Workspace tools. The course also emphasizes STEM concepts, encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and collaboration through hands-on projects.

- Basic Movement Principles: Understanding body alignment, coordination, and balance.
- Dance Styles: Learning the foundational techniques and vocabulary of different dance genres.
- Choreography: Creating and performing original dance sequences, emphasizing creativity and expression.
- Performance Skills: Building confidence through performance practice and stage presence.
Students will enhance their physical fitness, coordination, and teamwork skills, rhythm, and musicality while building confidence and self-expression through movement, while also developing a deeper appreciation for dance as an art form.

Orchestra & Guitar class specializes in teaching our students in the academic and classical aspects of the string instruments compromised of the Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass and Classical Guitar. We also provide opportunities for our students to develop skills such as leadership, patience, resiliency, collaboration, accountability amongst others in our year round events.

DJSMS P.E. and Athletics elective strives to develop high-level skills in specific sports, train athletes to compete and achieve excellence in physical performance.

In our middle school mariachi class, students immerse themselves in the rich traditions of mariachi music. We cover the basics of music theory and sight-reading, and we learn to play various instruments used in mariachi ensembles. We also hone our vocal skills through vocalization and breathing techniques, ensuring a well-rounded musical education. The goal is to nurture a deep appreciation for this vibrant genre while developing each student's musical abilities.

Investigating Careers - 6th Grade
In Principles of Information Technology, students will develop computer literacy skills to adapt to emerging technologies used in the global marketplace. Students will implement personal and interpersonal skills to prepare for a rapidly evolving workplace environment. Students will enhance reading, writing, computing, communication, and reasoning skills and apply them to the information technology environment.Principles of Applied Engineering - 7th& 8th Grade
Principles of Applied Engineering provides an overview of the various fields of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics and their interrelationships. Students develop engineering communication skills, which include computer graphics, modeling, and presentations, by using a variety of computer hardware and software applications to complete assignments and projects.Principles of Applied Engineering - 7th & 8th Grade
The goal of Investigating Careers is to help students build career awareness and engage in deep exploration and study of the Texas CTE career clusters to create a foundation for success in high school, possible postsecondary studies, and careers. Students research labor market information, learn job-seeking skills, and create documents required for employment. -
In Theatre Arts, our students are given opportunities to learn to express their emotions on stage through safe and creative story telling or working behind the scenes. Our students gain confidence to speak in front of live audiences, experience friendly competition, be a part of a team and learn responsibility. As they continue in the program throughout middle school, they are able to earn the experience of seeing local performances and much more!
