La Joya Juarez-Lincoln High School Students Gain Real-World Electrical Experience Through Paid Summer Internship

La Joya, TX - Learning extends far beyond the classroom for students participating in La Joya ISD's Career and Technical Education (CTE) Summer Work-Based Learning Program. Through the district’s partnership with South Texas College’s Center for Advanced Training & Apprenticeships (CATA), students are gaining valuable hands-on experience while exploring careers in various fields. 

Recently, students from Juarez-Lincoln High School participated in a paid internship through a collaborative partnership with Zitro Electric, applying their classroom knowledge by installing electrical conduit at the construction site of a retail store under the guidance of industry professionals.

“As paid interns, these students are building practical skills, developing workplace professionalism, and gaining firsthand insight into the expectations and opportunities within the skilled trades,” said Samuel Garza, CTE Coordinator for La Joya ISD. “Through the partnerships we have with STC and Zitro Electric, our students are developing technical skills, building confidence, and learning what it means to be career ready.
